Things Learned at 70
I love engaging with things I never would have sought out myself, so randomized playlists and curated selections of things are very much my jam. The Sample sends you a different newsletter each day so you can taste-test a bunch and subscribe to the ones you like.
(Sponsorships allow me to produce this missive and send it out to everyone for free—so a big thanks to the sponsors, and if you’re keen to sponsor an issue of AG please respond for details) :)
Things Learned at 70
Learning from other people (learning anything, be it a practical skill or a point-of-view) feels like a shortcut to me: it allows me to acquire knowledge that would otherwise only be gleaned through many more years lived, or exposure to specific experiences (which I may or may not ever encounter, personally).
List of lessons that standout, then, are appealing to me. And though I think it's prudent to keep one's wits about oneself when perusing them (they won't all be applicable to everyone, and in some cases they'll be just outright wrong for you, your circumstances, or according to things you've learned—because all people have blind spots and non-universal, non-objective opinions) they're still valuable as potential nuggets of wisdom and knowledge, acquired on the cheap and potentially earlier in life.
This one by Kevin Kelly (a tech-world person who's done a lot of stuff and who tends to be pretty thoughtful) was a nice addition to other such lists I've read over the years: https://kk.org/thetechnium/103-bits-of-advice-i-wish-i-had-known/
