Tacit Knowledge
I love engaging with things I never would have sought out myself, so randomized playlists and curated selections of things are very much my jam. The Sample sends you a different newsletter each day so you can taste-test a bunch and subscribe to the ones you like.
(Sponsorships allow me to produce this missive and send it out to everyone for free—so a big thanks to the sponsors, and if you’re keen to sponsor an issue of AG please respond for details) :)
Tacit Knowledge
Part of my learning process is to do things over and over and over and over until I can essentially feel when things work, when they don't, and have a general sense of how to get the outcomes I want most of the time.
There's a whole lot of book-style learning in there, too, as I find I can calibrate my efforts much more precisely (and figure out how to correct the wrong things I'm doing more rapidly) when I'm actively benefitting from someone else's expertise throughout the process (and intentionally acting upon that expertise).
But the acquisition of tacit knowledge—the stuff you can't really communicate with language—is almost always core to learning in such a way that you ultimately achieve some level of expertise, yourself.
