Reverse Mentorship
I think to some degree this has always been happening, but I like the term “reverse mentorship” for the tendency of younger workers to teach older workers (and their bosses) things folks in the latter group wouldn’t have any reason to know.
Technologies, techniques, and best-practices change fast, and there’s a non-zero chance that what you’ve learned by the time you graduate is already outdated. That likelihood increases with every year you’re in the workforce, rather than the education-pool.
Having new hires (or new friends, new colleagues, etc) teach as well as being taught can help ameliorate this issue, as long as they’re encouraged (and empowered)(and incentivized) to do so.
