Joni Mitchell
I recently read an interesting piece about Joni Mitchell: an artist who's work I've always enjoyed, and who I didn't realize suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015.
Following the aneurysm, she completely forgot how to play guitar (also how to speak, how to walk, and other such fundamentals).
She relearned how to play guitar from scratch by watching videos of her pre-aneurysm self performing, online—which to me is just a staggering accomplishment, alongside all the other impressive things she did to regain functionality.
"Blue" is still one of my favorite albums ever, and this piece on her (and her post-aneurysm efforts) is wonderful and inspiring: https://www.openculture.com/2022/07/how-joni-mitchell-relearned-to-play-guitar-after-a-2015-brain-aneurysm.html
