Flow State
Note: This is a new format I'm trying out—a recommendation for a curation and/or randomization service or tool.
Flow State
The Flow State newsletter sends out instrumental music recommendations every day, ranging from electronic to Bossa Nova to jazz and classical and acoustic.
There are no (or very few) lyrics, and what's presented almost always makes for excellent background focus/work music.
I discovered the 60s- and 70s-era jazz music I run to each morning (The KPM 1000 Series vol. 1 and vol. 2) via this newsletter, and I've made a habit of saving the recommendation (which arrives in the morning) till the evening when I can listen to it while making the next morning's One Sentence News email.
There's a brief explanation of what's recommended each day, as well, so you can use that to decide what to listen to, if you desire.
But as is often the case with curated work, it's more ideal to go with the flow, commit to exposing yourself to something that's been chosen for you by someone who knows a lot about the medium in question, and then decide whether or not you care for it after being exposed to the work itself (rather than allowing pre-listen assumptions about the work to shape your perception of it, perhaps forever limiting you to things you're already comfortable with, in the process).
