Experiencing Awe
Of the many metrics we might use to gauge the quality of our lives, regular exposure to awe-inducing stimuli is unfortunately uncommon.
This is partially because awe-triggering things can be tricky to quantify, but partly—I suspect—because we underestimate just how beneficial experiencing awe can be.
It's neat when we feel it, sure, but how valuable is it, really?
Pretty valuable, as it turns out.
It's good for our sense of perspective, it can help reduce stress and increase our overall feeling of well-being, life-satisfaction, and meaning. It may also help reduce inflammation.
